This was my first ever fondant cake. It was easier than I initially thought. In keeping with our tradition of making the birthday cakes together, Ali and I spent the day before, baking...and tasting! We made a rainbow of cake colors on the inside, layered with homemade buttercream icing, just in case the fondant attempt didn't go as planned, but all worked to her liking ;)
It was fun (especially in our matching aprons) and I do think she was quite proud of our efforts.

This was our lunch out with her at Olive Garden (her choice). Also where we all went on my birthday in December... she has great taste(buds)!

The crown was picked out with her birthday money this morning... after her 5 year old check up. That was NOT planned well by me since getting FOUR shots first thing in the morning on your birthday is not such a good way to begin celebrating.
She was a trooper and all forgiving. We then went to Sugar Rush to get a few after lunch treats and had fun watching all the crazy people out down town who were dressed up for St. Patricks Day.
